I met Modeline in 2008, in Mr. Veenstra's grade 9 Drama class. I thought she was really cool and I wanted to be her friend.
I've always tried to use humour when meeting new people, but I wasn't always very good at it.
Needless to say, the joke I tried on her flopped, and she thought I was really weird.
It wasn't until a few weeks later when we were both at our lockers that we really clicked.
Graeme, a grade 12 student, walked by us and we both stopped what we were doing to stare at him.
As 13-year-old girls, he was the most attractive man. we had ever seen... and as soon as he was out of ear-shot, we started to obsess to each other about how cute he was.
Thanks to Graeme (and his muscles), I was able to find a best friend at a new school.
Unlike a lot of high school friendships, we have remained best friends since 2008. We've known each other for 12 years... and so much has happened.
Although she was faced with many obstacles, Modeline graduated from Dental Hygiene from Georgian College, and we were all so proud of her!
The Biggest Blessing: Alisyenne
This was a summer night in 2018... Lis peed on me while we were taking this pic
Modeline told me she was pregnant when I was at Magic Kingdom one night in the summer of 2015. All I could think was, "I'm going to be an Aunt!"
I ditched my friends and ran to the gift shop to buy my unborn niece something Disney.
I ended up getting her a soft little Winnie The Pooh plush, and as soon as I got home to Toronto I went to Modeline's house to give it to her!
Lis is now 4-years-old and is my favorite little girl. She's fun, adventurous, and has such a big heart—and Modeline is SO good with her.
As a young mom, I know she has her doubts, but Modeline is a super mom and everyone knows it!
Get to know Modeline
I am currently practicing dental hygiene in the GTA. I'm a proud mother to a 4 year old baby girl, Alisyenne (Lis).
Although I haven't had much time, because of Lis, I love playing the piano and guitar. I also sing!
I was adopted at 7-months-old from a small town in Haiti to a German-Canadian family. Now that I'm a mother, I'm embracing my daughters Nicaraguan culture!
