Island Vintage Coffee's Macadamia Nut Latte: Imitation Recipe

Photos Courtesy of Island Vintage Coffee

Hawaii is known to have the best coffee (Kona coffee) and for good reason. It's the best coffee I have ever had, and there is one little shop that serves the best Kona coffee opn the island.

Island Vintage Coffee is my favorite coffee shop in the world. This is not an exaggeration—I would move to Hawaii to be close to this coffee establishment!

There are 5 Island Vintage Coffee locations in Hawaii, but the one I visited (almost every day) was the one at Ko' Olina in O'ahu.

Island Vintage Coffee became part of our morning routine when my family and I visited Disney's Aulani. We would wake up for sunrise and walk on the trail by the beach.

While my sister and Mom found chairs in the shade, my Dad and I would walk over to Island Vintage Coffee, which is directly across the street from the resort, to get coffee.

Island Vintage Coffee doesn't just serve coffee and espresso, they have a selection of poke bowls, breakfast foods, açai bowls, sandwiches, and salads. Check out the full menu here.

Although there was so much to choose from, I would always order the same thing—a macadamia nut latte! I initially ordered it because it was a novelty - I had never heard of such a thing before.

Between the blend of Kona coffee and the macadamia flavour, it is the perfect vacation coffee. By "vacation coffee" I mean it's more of a special occasion drink because it's a little on the sweet side.

Macadamia Nut Latte

I don't live in Hawaii, which unfortunately means I can't get this perfect latte when I'm in the mood for it.

Therefore, I needed to find a way to bring this little piece of Hawaii home with me, so one morning I asked the barista to allow me to watch him make my drink.

It's really quite simple, which surprised me because it's the best coffee drink I've ever had!

Try the recipe below to see why I'm so obsessed with this drink!

Here's what you'll need:

I found the syrup on Amazon, and it was perfect!

While I make a double shot espresso, I warm up the milk in a pan on a low. Pour the espresso and the 2 tablespoons of the macadamia nut syrup In your favorite mug.

Once the milk is warmed up, pour it into a separate mug so that you can froth it up with your handheld electric whisk.

Pour the frothy milk into your mug with the espresso and use the whisk for a few seconds to blend everything together.

Bottom line

Although this doesn't taste exactly like the macadamia nut latte served at Island Vintage Coffee, it comes pretty close! You can also make it iced by adding crushed ice if that's more your thing!

If your travels take you to Hawaii make sure you check Island Vintage Coffee to fully experience the best coffee on the island!
